Celebrating Apraxia Warriors: Join the Colorado Festival
As a mom to a child with CAS and as a speech/language pathologist specializing in CAS, I know firsthand what it is like in the trenches. Apraxia warriors work so hard doing one thing that comes so easily to others. Something many might even take for granted, and that something is to speak.
While other children learn to speak seemingly effortlessly, apraxia warriors attend hours and hours of speech therapy learning how to get their mouth to cooperate with their brain.
That’s why each year I continue to hold a charity event to honor and celebrate these warriors for putting in so much work that others don’t see. I love that Jordan, the founder of The Apraxia Foundation, attends every year. He puts on their blue apraxia war paint and he hands them their certificates. Jordan gives each child a heart felt message and personal word of encouragement. I know the kids’ really listen to him and hear him. I know in the future how meaningful it will be.

This year the festival will be on October 25th, 2016 from 11:00 – 2:00! To register for the Festival the link is here: https://apraxiafoundation.org/event/denver-colorado-2026-apraxia-festival
That same weekend Jordan will also be giving a workshop on Saturday the 24th for those who would like to attend as well. He’ll be talking about his lived experiences with childhood apraxia of speech and will include recommendations for anyone who works with the child such as parents and SLP’s but also teachers and paras.
